Here, we used an existing window and enlarged it to a egress size well.  The window was the same with but much deeper so we had to cut the foundation down.  After installing the Rockwell Egress Wndow well, we regarded the property and installed a cover.  On the inside, we installed a WellDuct Window Well Drain to make sure that there would be no flooding from the well into the basement. Besides making the basement safer to use, there is also noticably more light down there.
