French Drain and Drain Tile Installation Contractor in Maryland, Delaware, Philadelphia PA, and South Jersey

WaterGuard and a drain tile pipeBasement Systems USA in Philadelphia and SE Pennsylvania, Delaware, South Jersey, and NE Maryland installs a state-of-the-art French drain system called WaterGuard – a patented product by Basement Systems only available through their dealers.

What makes the WaterGuard French drain system much more effective than a basic French drain or drain tile system is its design. The WaterGuard drainage channel is specifically designed to rest on the basement footing. This keeps the channel out of the mud (sometimes called the Mud Zone), and makes it extremely resistant to clogging. A specially designed flange on the top creates a nice clean edge at the perimeter of the basement floor, rather than an open half-inch gap of most French drain installs. This flange stops dirt and debris from getting into the system.

The Origin of French Drains & Drain Tile

French drains and drain tile originated in the 1920s for the purpose of waterproofing basements. Originally designed with clay tile (thus "drain tile"), the French drain was an excellent solution. Today, this drainage channel system is typically made from large, round PVC plastic piping with holes drilled into it.

However, in 1989, a superior French drain drainage channel was developed called WaterGuard.

Like a French drain system, WaterGuard is installed along the interior perimeter of the foundation -- although a French drain or drain tile system can be installed at the exterior (which we don't recommend for its high failure rate), underneath the basement floor and drains to a gravity drain or to a sump pump system.
